Flood

E.J has been very busy of late, and hasn't had any time to come and update anything online.
I went back to school on tuesday, but due to a hell of a lot of rain in the past week or so, it's gotten to the point where I'd have no way to get home, if it were to flood whilst I'm at school. So I've spent the past two days at home. oh joy.
So, on Thursday, after sitting outside, and watching it drip for three hours, and reading my bbok, I decided to go get Bonza and swim him in the gully, cause at that point, the water had come all the way up the paddock, and into my stalls. So it was quite deep toward the end of our paddock. I haltered him up, and got on. He was a little edgy once he was about knee deep in the water, but he got over that after a while. We had slowly gotten to the point where the water was just touching my feet, when Dad came out. He told me that Deanne had just called, to tell us that the banks of the Bhole river had just broken, and we had about an hour to get all our horses up to the pony club, cause that's the highest point on our street. So I got off, and haltered all my horses, and began my trek down to the ponyclub. Four times up to the pony club and back later, all our horses were safely on higher ground. And I'd lost my thongs. Gah!
So we went around to Melda's place, to see if they needed a hand with anything. They were all good, so we stopped for a chat. When we went to leave, we got in the ute, and tried to start it. the engine spluttered, then died. So picture me and my friends pushing our ute up the road, with mum inside, cause she still can't walk properly, we're almost knee-deep in water and laughing our heads off! We got the ute to a higher point on the road, and thankfully, it started.
W got home to a metre of water in our yard! no joke, it was flowing over my fence, which I know is a metre high.
So we packed up all the horse gear and rugs, put all our feed up on the feed bins, and relocated most of our chooks to higher ground.
This morning all the water was gone.
Most of our chooks were running round our house-yard. Holly went down to have a look at the yard, and paddocks. She came back devistated. She had found the rest of our chooks, under our tack shed, all drowned. they must've gone under there once it started raining, and couldn't get out once the water rose. :(
We brought all the horses home, hosed and fed them, and now it's raining again! oh great...lol
Bye for now,
E.J
