The Rebirth of Venus

Today Ben Lee's 7th studio album, 'The Rebirth of Venus' was released in Australia.
I have the limited double-disc edition, which features the regular track listing, along with a second disc of cover tracks, including an entertaining take on the anti-Ben Lee song originally recorded by The Ataris, titled 'Ben Lee', and an acoustic version of MGMT's hit 'Kids'.

I enjoyed this record more than it's 2007 predecessor 'Ripe'. This was more than likely due to the fact that not every track on 'The Rebirth' contained some kind of subliminal sexual innuendo.

Stand-outs (to me) were What's so Bad (About Feeling Good), Surrender, I love Pop Music, Boy with a Barbie and definitely Ben Lee.

From Amazon--

Ben Lee dedicates his seventh studio recording to Venus, the Goddess of Love and Beauty. A bold move for a man, but Ben recognises that the strongest feminine qualities "such as compassion, nurturing, creativity, spontaneity, intuition, playfulness, tenderness and warmth are qualities that we all, men and women, need to cultivate." The Rebirth of Venus was produced by Brad Wood, who also produced Ben's breakout album Awake Is The New Sleep featuring the international hit "Catch My Disease".
